Our Coaching Philosophy
We take a calm, measured, and joyful approach to coaching. There's all the time in the world to meet your goals, and by slowing down we can create a plan that works best for you. Everyone is a little different, and while there are evidence based practices for success, how we apply those practices matters. We will be with you every step of the way, and believe that if you're not having fun, then why are we doing this anyways? All of our programs are based on building up your physical capacity and self belief, which are twin pillars of performance.
Last but not least, we believe in you, and your goals, completely and unconditionally. That's what coaching is to us.
What you can expect from us:
-Telling you to put your feet up a lot. Rest is our favourite form of recovery.
-Encouraging you to work hard just outside of your comfort zone, where the most improvement happens.
-Sensibly structured training and workouts that prioritize keeping you fit and healthy. We’re keeping our long run and our max deadlift days separate and so should you.
-Consistency.
What you won’t see from us:
-Training plans based on pseudoscience or the latest fad trend.
-Workouts that encourage an overtraining mindset. We’re all for getting after it, but lets not burn out before we get to the starting line.
-Sprints after a long run.
-Exercises or movements that actively hurt when you do them.
We are always learning, and as new studies emerge we will adapt to seek optimal performance in our training plans, but this will likely never involve a total overhaul of our principles. There’s a reason that the principles exist, and while individuals will respond and adapt differently to the basics, that doesn’t mean they should be abandoned.
